Minister of Health Inaugurates Newly Expanded Neonatal Care Unit at Balcad Hospital

Balcad, 2026 – The Minister of Health and Social Services of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Ali Haji Adam, today officially inaugurated a newly expanded neonatal care unit at Balcad Hospital.

The new unit represents an important step towards strengthening healthcare services in Balcad, particularly maternal and newborn care. It is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare services and help address some of the challenges faced by communities in Balcad and surrounding areas.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Federal Government ministers and officials from the Balcad District Administration, who welcomed the initiative and commended ongoing efforts to strengthen and expand healthcare services in the district.

During his visit to Balcad, H.E. Dr. Ali Haji Adam also inspected several key sites across the town, where he reviewed the status of social services and ongoing development initiatives.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry of Health and Social Services’ commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the country. He emphasized that the Ministry will continue implementing initiatives aimed at expanding and improving health facilities to ensure that Somali communities have access to efficient, accessible, and quality healthcare services.

The Balcad District Administration expressed its appreciation to the Minister and the Federal Government for their continued efforts to improve Balcad Hospital and strengthen healthcare services in the district. The administration noted that the newly expanded neonatal care unit will make a significant contribution to improving maternal and newborn health services for communities in Balcad and surrounding areas.
